Birthday Bingo for Adults: Fun Party Games

Adult birthday bingo hits differently when the card is actually about the birthday person. A generic card with random party words is fine; a card filled with things your friend always says, places you've been together, and inside jokes gets everyone laughing within the first five minutes.

Format 1: Roast Bingo (Best for Close Friend Groups)

Each square is something the birthday person does, says, or is known for. Squares are marked when the moment or phrase happens naturally during the party.

Example squares (customize these):

  • Checks their phone during conversation
  • Orders the same thing at every restaurant
  • Gets emotional after two drinks
  • Starts a sentence with "actually..."
  • Takes 20 minutes to say goodbye
  • Claims they can't dance, then dances
  • Overshares a story within the first hour
  • Says "I'm not that drunk" (they are)
  • Gives a heartfelt speech nobody expected
  • References a specific shared memory

Format 2: Drinking Bingo

Standard bingo with a rule: when you mark a square, take a sip. Getting bingo means everyone else drinks. Works best for groups of 6–15 at a house party or bar.

Good drinking bingo squares:

  • Birthday person gets a free drink
  • Embarrassing story told
  • A birthday song is sung
  • Someone arrives late
  • Phone dies
  • Birthday person says "I can't believe I'm [age]"
  • Someone makes a getting-old joke
  • Group photo taken
  • Someone who said "just one drink" is still there 3 hours later
  • The birthday cake arrives

Format 3: Trivia Bingo

All squares are questions about the birthday person. Host reads questions aloud; guests mark a square if they know the answer. At the end, the birthday person reveals the real answers.

Example trivia questions:

  • What city was [name] born in?
  • What was their first job?
  • What's their go-to karaoke song?
  • Who is their celebrity crush?
  • What is their biggest irrational fear?
  • What did they want to be when they grew up?
  • What is their guiltiest TV pleasure?
  • What is their order at their favorite coffee shop?

Tips for Adult Birthday Bingo

  • Personalization is everything — generic squares produce a generic game
  • Involve the birthday person in creating the card if they're in on the joke, or surprise them
  • Keep prizes fun: a nice bottle, restaurant gift card, or funny gag gift
